Expand your horizons and look beyond our borders for education. The act of crossing the American border is an education in itself.
Think of your reaction when someone else tells a story set in a foreign land. Isn't it exotic? Don't you think more highly of them for being a world traveler?
Think of the stories you can tell while you were in a strange and wonderful place for a year of study. If you choose New Zealand, you can tell tales of the 'Lord of The Ring' settings and the beautiful surroundings. How about Australia? You can relate to all of the slang that you will hear in movies and on TV shows.
Don't let the lanuage barrier stop you. If you are scared of learning a new language, look at schools in England, Australia, Ireland, and New Zealand.
